Credit card debt is the unfortunate result of spending money we don’t truly have. While this certainly is fun when we're doing it, it can definitely be a heavy burden in the near future. Most of us certainly don't have a problem with spending money. Now, this doesn't necessarily mean that we have excess cash to burn. Credit cards are to blame, right? Well, maybe it's partially our fault. We bump into new items all of the time that we think we need, but probably just want. Who really needs another TV, or a new outfit from a designer clothing store? Either way, many of us make the mistake of buying with a credit card, whether we have the funds or not.

When I was 19, I received my first credit card. I was so excited to finally be able to buy whatever I wanted. Well, not really anything I wanted, but I was tempted. All of those things that I always wanted, suddenly I could get with my shiny new credit card. I wasn't exactly educated about the APRs and minimum monthly payments. I went on a spending spree and found myself with a small credit card debt. This was my first lesson in credit card debt. Although credit cards can get us out of binds or come to our rescue on certain occasions, we shouldn't abuse them. If we go crazy, the debt can be unbearable.

Consolidating your credit card debt is a good way to get a handle on high interest rates and high monthly payments. My parents had accumulated high amounts of debt on three different credit cards. After doing some research, they found an ideal consolidation plan. All of their credit card debts were paid off by the consolidation company, and they were only had one low, monthly payment. This made things much easier concerning their finances.

Dealing with credit card debt can be rather frustrating, but you don't have to do it alone. Hop on your computer and browse through the numerous websites that offer advice on credit card debt and bill consolidation. If you can't afford your current monthly payments, look into a consolidation plan that's right for you. While credit card debt can be a burden, it doesn't have to control your life.
